During an internal strategic review session held in early 2014, the Board of Management of Heathcote Health identified the potential for a dementia village to be established in Heathcote along similar lines to one currently operating in the Netherlands and recommended that an initial scoping exercise be conducted. The initial scoping exercise supported the concept and a proposal for the establishment of a dementia village in Heathcote was developed by the Heathcote Health Executive. An Investment Logic Mapping (ILM) Workshop was subsequently conducted by Ernst and Young (EY) with a number of key stakeholders which further supported the proposal and recommended the establishment of this Steering Committee. The proposal has been supported by Advance Heathcote Inc. and is included as a key objective in the 2017-21 Heathcote and District Community Plan.
