• Oversaw the interagency processes and policy on trade and certain investment matters on behalf of the White House; served as liaison with U.S. business, Congress, and foreign officials.• Developed and coordinated U.S. policy positions on trade and investment, including issues relating to international institutions, economic stability, and national security.• Briefed senior NSC officials, Cabinet Secretaries, and the President.• Developed and implemented the Administration’s “STOP Initiative” to address piracy and counterfeiting of intellectual property rights; coordinated with U.S. trade partners.

• Analyzed and monitored U.S. legislative initiatives covering trade policy matters for Asia, trade agency authorizations and appropriations, U.S. Customs, anti-dumping and countervailing law, World Trade Organization (WTO) negotiations and dispute settlements, and International Trade Commission cases and reports.• Conducted research and analysis and provided support and background briefings on international trade issues for the Chairman of the Finance Committee, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Trade, Chief Trade Counsel, Committee members, and Committee staff.• Drafted statements and policy positions for Congressional leaders on the Chile and Singapore Free Trade Agreements, WTO compliance issues, intellectual property rights, and investment policy.
• Advised the Assistant Secretary for Import Administration on international trade policy.• Prepared correspondence and communications for senior officials.• Assessed legislative proposals and provided recommendations to the Assistant Secretary.• Supported the development and implementation of the President’s Steel Initiative, softwood lumber negotiations, and general Import Administration policy matters.
