About Nicholas Case

As a graduate student in Computer Science at NCSU, I possess a strong foundation in programming, data structures, and software engineering principles. Throughout my academic journey, I have gained hands-on experience working with diverse codebases, ranging from simulating carbon emission taxes to testing rocket engines. One of my most formative experiences was volunteering with the EPA, where I learned to optimize and enhance an existing codebase, implementing platform independence and multi-threading capabilities. In the classroom, I have tackled challenging projects involving networking, x86 Assembly Language, advanced data structures in C and Java, and more. While I do not currently have a specific focus within computer science, I am eager to explore various domains and continuously improve my skills as a software engineer.

In that summer, we had groups coming to Raleigh from all over the country and along with my co-intern and the director of RYM, we worked to bring a great experience where middle school and high school youth can learn about racial and social justice and how faith plays into those ideas. As an intern, I lead groups to different non-profits throughout the Raleigh area, working along side them as we sorted vegetables or we packed meals to hand out later. And in the evening, my co-intern and I held discussions about the work that was done that day, how important that work is, and how can we change the systems in our world to make life better for all.
