About Rob Brown
I have been designing residential/light commercial radiant and hydronic heating systems, and indoor air quality systems, since 1997. Around 2010, I started diversifying into air to water heat pump systems (starting with the Daikin Altherma) and from there, moved into chilled water hydronics, radiant cooling, and ducted distribution systems. A couple of years later I started working seriously with air to air heat pump systems including VRF, 1 to 1 units and multisplits, ductless and ducted options, and all of the integration/control issues that arise in these systems. At this point, I have worked in all aspects of residential mechanical design, with an eye for high performance in comfort, health, and energy usage. And I've learned... the hard way... to give due respect for the long term service and reliability issues that often come up when dealing with cutting edge/custom solutions as well. Working as part of a mechanical contracting team for several years has definitely made me a better designer!I began my adventure into the world of heat pump manufacturing in 2022, driven by a desire to participate more directly in the future of air to water heat pumps, my favorite technology, as they develop in North America.
