About Nycole Torres

Promoting diversity and inclusion is a passion of mine that I have devoted much time and energy into throughout my undergraduate experience and as a working professional. I have strived to promote cultural awareness and celebrate diversity with the general student body when I worked for Multicultural Student Services and within the residence halls as a Resident Assistant and a Residence Life Coordinator. I have assisted in planning educational programs around tough conversations such as racism and institutional oppression. Additionally, I fostered a brave space within the residence halls I oversaw where students felt accepted, valued, and were encouraged to express themselves respectfully. My goal has always been to promote cultural awareness and celebrate diversity through programming and training initiatives. Currently, I am employed as a Residence Hall Coordinator. I provide year-round leadership and direction for 17 Resident Assistants and 900 students. I am also responsible for creating and implementing developmental programs for both professional and paraprofessional staff. During the last year, I have actively created and facilitated lessons in the areas of cultural competency, individual development, and community responsibility. I have experience training, mentoring, and supervising employees. In this role I have also presented to paraprofessional and professional staff based on current trends and training in higher education and college student personnel. In the future, I hope to utilize my passion for history and programming to further diversity and inclusion initiatives such as advocacy and social justice in my professional career. I love learning, mentoring, and educating others. My primary goal is to make a positive impact on others. I am open to relocating within the United States or moving abroad.
