Responsible for data collection, management, and analysis of state‐funded Community Health Centers (CHCs) in the Division of Chronic Disease, Primary Care & Rural Health in order to evaluate the Indiana health care delivery system and how it relates to the health status of Indiana’s populationSupport evaluation design, and implementation, of the utility of required quarterly reporting of data from the CHCsAnalyze Indiana hospital discharge, emergency data and primary care by calculating rates of hospitalization for ambulatory care sensitive conditions. Analysis is conducted by using SASWork in collaboration with other internal divisions and outside partners including state‐funded Community Health Centers to ensure relationship building and communication of grant funding opportunitiesStrong writing skills for competitive grant applications from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, Health Resources and Services Administration, and the Association of State and Territorial Officers which have helped to secure grant funding for the division and external partners Active member of the ISDH Health & Wellness Council to promote and disseminate information from meetings including, but not limited to, the adoption of agency-wide healthy meeting policy, promoting walking meetings or stair usage through posted educational materials, creation of agency wide challenges and furthermore, encouraging colleagues to engage in healthy behaviors by leading by example.

- 2016 National Mentorship Program in Applied Chronic Disease Epidemiology - Through a competitive application process, Ms. Coton was one of nine selected junior- level chronic disease epidemiologists to receive individualized mentoring to develop competencies in applied chronic disease epidemiology and program skills. Ms. Coton's proposed project focused on increasing her skills in evaluation and time management. This competitive mentorship program provided Ms. Coton travel support to attend and present at the 2016 Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists’ Conference, June 19-23, 2016, in Anchorage, Alaska.

Conduct a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA). This involves primary and secondary data collection, research and analysis, three campus specific documents (FSFH Carmel, Mooresville, and Indianapolis), organizing and assisting with biweekly committee meetings with persons representing all campuses and specializations, and constant communication with committee members and preceptor.

Conduct Youth Risk Behavior Surveys (YRBS) per CDC and Indiana State Department of Health regulations that include strict administration and confidentiality arrangements of youth in grades 9-12. The YRBS monitors six types of health-risk behaviors that contribute to the leading causes of death and disability among youth and adults, including— behaviors that contribute to unintentional injuries and violence, sexual behaviors that contribute to unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV infection, alcohol and other drug use, tobacco use, unhealthy dietary behaviors and inadequate physical activity
