Software Developer And Product Owner - Trade Me Property
I was fortunate enough to join Trade Me at a time of considerable growth in the company and I have strived to grow with the company and continue to add value in many more areas than my initial role of software developer. The open communication culture and agile methodologies at Trade Me really blew me out of the water, with the encouragement of open discussion for solutions really sparking my interest in product and product strategy.Driven by massive job satisfaction, a passion for tech solutions, hard work and proactive engagement, I quickly gained more responsibility where ever I could. I was promoted to intermediate dev, a title I had already attained at my previous job.My ability to produce a positive work environment and drive a team to get results came naturally from the satisfaction I got from being part of a happy team that achieved good results. I became squad master when the tech teams re-squadified in June 2014. This really gave me the tools I needed to develop these skills further and the squads Team Health Check survey demonstrated very high results in all areas. In April this year the tech team again re-squadified and substantial growth in the team saw the Product team stretched. Prompted by my peers, I took on the role of Product Owner for the consumer focused dev squad that I was already a part of. When the new Product Manager started, I continued on as Product Owner as growth had again seen Product stretched and I was very happy to continue to develop knowledge and experience in this role. I have been enjoying it immensely and have been actively seeking knowledge from the excellent Product team we have in Trade Me Property as well as on my own.I have had nothing but support, encouragement and since joining Trade Me and am very dedicated to the success of the business.I owe a lot of my personal and career development to Trade Me.

.Net Software Developer
System design, development on a start-up EDI, "www.smeedi.com", that links businesses and their transactions through Accounting Packages. The system is cloud based using the Windows Azure platform. I implemented the integration and support for MYOB Australia, XERO, and Quickbooks. I also implemented a reporting system that generated PDF invoices and emailed them out to customers. I gained a good understanding of the Azure Platform over the 15 months on this project. After Smeedi, I began working on a Mobile version of SmartTrade (Job management Software) with one other developer. Over 6 months we designed and developed a cross-platform mobile web application using Javascript, HTML5 and CSS hosted on the Azure Platform. The app is device independent and can run on all but the oldest of mobile devices. We used a 3rd party (telerik) UI library to give the application the look and feel of a native IOS or Android app. Although it is web based it can work offline using the device storage and caching. The application syncs with the Desktop version.I have also worked on the design and development of a re-write of our legacy SmartTrade job management system (still in progress). The re-write changed the legacy application to use a Service Oriented Architecture and was done from the ground up. The Client UI has also been bought up to modern standards.I implemented an automated build system to allow for rapid build/deployment/testing cycles. The system used SVN repositories, Hudson build, automated versioning/connfiguration and custom applications to manage post/pre build processes. It ended up reducing the time to deploy from over an hour of fiddling to a couple of click's. Deployment mistakes were no longer an issue.October 2013 - Started new project! A WebAPI hosted in Azure that services a mobile application for digital forms.March 2014 - SmartForms finished, starting new project.. Secret :) Azure, MVC4, AJAX, Kendo UI, lots of javascript
