I am a sustainable energy specialist with 20 years of experience working in public and private sector roles in the UK and internationally. Along with Natalia Baltazar, I am the co-founder of SmartShift Energy and we are on a mission to empower people to substantially reduce their energy costs by effortlessly harnessing the full value of flexibility in the electrified home. This exciting new venture came out of my participation on the ZINC venture builder programme: Zinc is a VC fund that specialises in developing mission driven, pre-idea startups. I was selected to be part of their seventh cohort, which focused on environment and health. Before my 2023 move back to the UK I worked in the South Asia Energy Unit of the World Bank, based in Washington, DC, and was the country lead for the Pakistan energy program for almost two years. Before that I spent nine years working in the Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP) on offshore wind, renewable energy resource assessment, climate change assessments, results-based aid, and a number of other topics. Prior to the World Bank I worked for the UK Government on energy and climate change policy development, including establishment of the Climate Investment Funds.
