I was responsible for debugging and modifying Fortran-based code of curve fitting algorithms for fluoroscopy analysis. In addition, I developed a phasor analysis of the fluoroscopy data to help users conduct a faster evaluation and provided a Matlab-based alternative for Fortran code to facilitate better mathematical and graphical analysis of the fluoroscopy imaging data. Finally, I packaged the Fortran scripts using CMake for distribution on MacOS systems. -

Senior DesignPurdue University Aug 2021 - May 2022My team and I worked on developing an endovascular alternative to Microvascular Decompression. MVD involves opening the skull and placing a piece of cotton between the Superior Cerebellar artery and the Trigeminal Nerve to minimize the force on the nerve. Our proposal was to design a stent that bends the blood vessel away from the nerve after deployment. During this past semester, the team completed a scaled-up model of the stent and deployment method. My role was to develop a deployment method to ensure the stent bends in the correct orientation. Next semester, the plan is to miniaturize the design and file a patent. -
Undergraduate Teaching AssistantPurdue University Weldon School Of Biomedical Engineering Mar 2021 - Dec 2021I was an undergraduate teaching assistant for BME 295 (Thermodynamics in Biological Systems II) in spring 2021 and BME 301 (Bioelectricity) in fall 2021. For BME 295, I held virtual office hours twice a week, dealing with an average of 7-8 students per session. My main responsibility was to help students with the code portion of their projects, but sometimes I helped them with other components. For example, one student was unable to code her project correctly because her initial equations were wrong. Even though equation derivation was not part of my job description, I still walked her through the process. With each step, I held up my notebook to the camera, hoping she could see it. For BME 301, my responsibilities were holding office hours and grading papers. However, my most memorable time was helping a student study for the midterm. The student was trying to understand the space and time constants and how they relate to signal propagation. She missed a question on the homework about the topic and asked me to explain it. We walked together through the process step by step but did not arrive at the correct answer. When I revisited the instructors' answer sheet, I realized it had a mistake. I quickly contacted the professors to amend the issue before the students took their midterm. This incident taught me the importance of challenging ideas when collaborating with others. If I assumed the student was incorrect because the instructors had higher authority, then the students may have struggled on the midterm or incorrectly learned the content. Even though the process was sometimes tedious, I enjoyed helping my students traverse the many obstacles, pushing them toward a successful career in Biomedical Engineering. -
Director Of Mentorship At The Biomedical Engineering SocietyPurdue University Jun 2020 - Jun 2021The mentorship program was about helping mentees develop valuable connections in BME. I assigned mentors and mentees based on their career goals, areas of interest in BME, and favorite pastimes. This method allowed the mentee to engage naturally with their mentors. During our monthly meetings, mentors discussed research, professional development, and mental health with their mentees. As a result, pairs developed strong connections, guiding them toward a successful career in BME. Because of the support, we expanded from 40 to 100 students, and the National BMES selected us for the Outstanding Mentorship Award. Helping people develop meaningful relationships gave my own connections more value. -
Vice President, Purdue Medical Inovation Networking Design Club (Mind)Purdue University Sep 2018 - May 2021Lafayette, Indiana AreaThe club's goal is to design noninvasive medical devices for national and international competitions. Our entries have won multiple awards in competitions such as the 3rd overall in the China-US Young Maker Competition, two-time finalists for the BMES Student Design Competition, two-time Semifinalists at Rice 360° Design, and many more. The following are some of the projects I worked on:I collaborated with fellow team members on the maneuvers team to create a motion tracker for “Verti-Fix” using accelerometers, OLED screens, microcomputers, and breadboards. With the developed “Verti-Fix” device, used to help diagnose Vertigo, the team was selected as finalists by Google in the Grand Finals for the China-US Young Maker Competition 2019.I was a team leader for the vibration team for the smart sleeve project. Smart sleeve was a device meant to help patients rehabilitation are function, using vibrations, heat, and electrical stimulation. Since this device already exists on the market, the goal of the project was to recreate it at a lower cost. However, this project was cut short due to the pandemic. I lead the absorption team for the project “Hydro-check”. This device tracks capillary refill time on a fixed time schedule to use as a metric for dehydration. The absorption group task was to use infra-red light absorption to determine the capillary refill time. We entered our design in multiple competitions and have already received the semi-finalist award in the annual Rice 360° Global Health Design Competition. -

One of my mentees was interested in research but did not know where to start. First, we discussed his research interests. Then, we selected faculty who worked in those fields and crafted emails to send to those professors. The email included an indication of his interest in the field, skills he wished to develop at the lab, and how working in the lab related to his career goals. As a result, the student was accepted into a lab and began working on submitting his first publication. -
Undergraduate Researcher At FlexilabPurdue University Sep 2019 - Dec 2020West Lafayette, IndianaCurrently, I am researching Soft Robotic and Meta-materials, specifically how Voronoi Structures exhibit Metamaterial behavior and how a variation of tessellated structures twist angle affect its physical behavior. I Model tessellated structures through 3-D automation by using a python script to loop Grasshopper files in Rhino 6. Then, I simulate compressions on meta-materials to measure twist angle using Abaqus CAE. Finally, I print components for medical devices with Stereolithography 3d-printers for IU medical, specifically rotatable surgical tentacles and conical meta-materials prototypes. -

I became president of the club during the onset of the Pandemic. Therefore, my objective was to maintain the club's existence throughout the pandemic and produce a competitive design. At the end of my Presidency, the team was able to design a ventilator at 95% cost reduction compared to the current market value. Furthermore, the membership of the club expanded to at least 20 members, which is the most the club’s history.
