Friends during game dev: "Hey Oak, there's an animation/performance/physics/AI/gameplay problem, how do we fix it?"Me: "No clue but let me try."--Hello :) My name is Oak and I'm a programmer who likes working collaboratively in teams, drawing lots of diagrams, and asking questions. During my Master's at SMU Guildhall, I was taught the hard skills related to programming in games. But I also gained lessons of humility, hard work, and the willingness to try/fail/learn. Because of these traits, I consider myself a generalist programmer. Currently, my skills/interests lie in animations and gameplay, but I'm always open to learning more/new topics. The way I think of it, if I don't have an interest in a certain field, it just means I haven't explored and discovered aspects that I personally find cool and engaging yet.Relevant game dev experiences:- Building a custom C++ engine from scratch (lots of 2D/3D math and physics).- An inverse kinematics system used to generate procedural animations.- A skeletal animation pipeline for loading/playing/parsing animations from FBX files.- Team projects shipped on Steam and Epic Games Store using Unreal Engine 5.--I'm really into football (soccer) and anime (the one piece is real) if you're looking for a convo starter or just wanna chat :)
