In his current position as Associate Professor, Dr. Daniel Oblak acts as the principal investigator in the Quantum Cloud Lab at the University of Calgary. The group tackles numerous experimental aspects of quantum networks and quantum technology such as quantum key-distribution, quantum satellite ground-station, quantum memory, quantum wavelength transduction, and bio-photon emission. In his previous position as senior research coordinator in the Quantum Communication and Cryptography Lab at the University of Calgary Dr. Oblak handles numerous tasks centred on an analytical approach to solving problems and developing novel knowledge and technological capabilities. He is deeply involved in several projects that push the limits of current expertise and are motivated by the development of innovative quantum information technologies. Beyond his direct involvement, he provides advice on the strategic organization of the research projects in regards to required technical capacity and human resources. Dr. Oblak assists and supervises team members and collaborates with them to help set priorities and manage the workflow. He has a strong commitment to nurture a congenial work environment and sensitively resolve conflicts that arise in a highly competitive, demanding, and multicultural environment.
