Dorsata delivers point-of-care software to support Ob-Gyns in providing prenatal healthcare that meets clinical guidelines. I have worked on multiple projects to expand the scope of Dorsata’s products to new customers and use cases. Along the way, I built significant expertise in core internal libraries and worked to share it across the team.Very early in my tenure, I improved the documentation setup for an internal rules language initially created for reporting. Over time, I made performance improvements and added significant capabilities to that language as it became central to a new, modular system (that I also helped design and build) to expand the product beyond Dorsata’s original prenatal focus.Throughout 2022, I advocated for, implemented, and documented performance improvements in loading the core prenatal application loading time. The combined efforts of our team reduced 50th-percentile loading times by about 75%. I recorded a year-in-review video highlighting the improvements to share across the company.As the team experienced turnover across my tenure, I participated in and led hiring screenings, resulting in me having helped hire the entire current engineering team. Post-hire, I worked with most of these colleagues individually to help with onboarding and in day-to-day collaborative problem solving. And I organized brown bag-style presentations to build shared context on key tools like Rails, DataDog, and internal libraries.I have worked to improve the developer experience for the team as well. I migrated the CI setup to GitHub Actions, leading to a faster, more reliable, and better integrated workflow. I reduced database load while running CI to speed things up further and updated Rails bootstrapping to use structure dumping instead of migration replay during setup.

FBS provides multiple listing service software for real estate, currently used by ~250,000 real estate professionals and their clients. I was hired as a junior developer when the company had ~30 employees and earned promotions to Principal Developer as we grew to 120+ employees and expanded our subscribed user base by 8x. I am now assigned to a Web Development team responsible for all user-facing elements of the MLS system, partnering with product team to plan features and advise on technical/architectural decisions and user-driven issues. My project experience includes:Reduced load on a 24-server web cluster 33% by identifying a redundancy in loading of common libraries.Co-created a report writer using MongoDB, Rails, and Bootstrap to enable agents to create custom listing reports for clients. The layouts render responsively on-screen for mobile/desktop and adjust to a single page for printing. Designed a two-phase approach to replace code-based customizations with configuration. Phase one created a JSON structure to encode customizations and apply them from per-customer JSON files. Currently implementing phase two, a DB2-backed UI to enable non-developers to create and manage customizations. Successfully pitched leadership on the value of a single solution to data integrity monitoring to replace custom scripts per client. Designed and implemented a ​Sidekiq​-based system that detects inaccuracies in listing data and generates template-based emails to notify the responsible parties for resolution.Selected by CEO to a three-member metrics team to build out tools to improve system monitoring, implement tracking of business-level metrics, and educate teams on their use. Built customized dashboards in Kibana and Grafana for technical and non-technical team members to improve tracking and reporting across the organization.

In this role I built a project tracking system to track 2k projects and 5k work hours per month to improve workflow visibility. I also provided user support and contributed to new feature design based on feedback.

At Rockwell Collins I wrote test plans for JTRS software-defined radios and obtained a Secret security clearance.
