I am a Professor of Economics at the University of Exeter, where I'm also Deputy Director of the Institute for Data Science & Artificial Intelligence. I’m also a faculty affiliate at Harvard University and a senior advisor in the UK Cabinet Office’s Evaluation Task Force.For over ten years, my research has focused on:1️⃣ Fairness, cooperation, and altruism — exploring solutions to challenges like poverty, inequality, sustainability, and workplace collaboration and inclusion.2️⃣ Leadership and organizational change — examining how these drive performance and positive outcomes, especially by using AI to create value in business and the public sector.I’m passionate about fostering cultures of experimentation, data-driven decision-making, and measurable impact.My work has been published in top academic journals like Nature, PNAS, Science Advances, and QJE and featured in Harvard Business Review, Forbes, Bloomberg, and Huffington Post.Beyond research, I give talks and consult on leadership, AI & data, diversity, negotiation, and behavioral economics. In the past, I have advised AtkinsRealis, BlackRock, Deloitte, Ericsson, NatWest, Unilever, and Zurich amongst many others.I previously held posts at Harvard Business School and Harvard Kennedy School. I earned my Ph.D. in Biology from Harvard University and my B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Innsbruck. I have been a faculty member at the University of Exeter since 2018.
