25 years of international, national and organizational leadership experience in the areas of international development, sustainability, climate change, food and nutrition security, public health, children's human rights, democratic governance. Olav led the Bureau for Development Policy of UNDP for almost seven years, overseeing an international staff of some 360, programs delivering in the hundreds of millions every year, and policy work ranging from democratic governance to climate change. This culminated in him playing a central role in the complex and highly political process that led to Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015, including organizing the largest global consultation ever undertaken by the UN with millions of people engaged. At UNICEF, Olav directed the organization's engagement with governments, the UN system and international financial institutions to advocate for and position the rights and interests of children in global policy debates, and mobilize resources for UNICEF's work. From 1997 to 2005: Political leadership roles in international development cooperation at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as Political Advisor to the Minister of International Development and Human Rights (1997-2000) and as State Secretary for International Development (2001-2005).Olav holds a Master’s Degree in International Affairs from the George Washington University. Fluent in Norwegian, English and Spanish.
