Rep Offshore Electrical Technician
CurrentWorking as a core crew member in a multi-tasking role as a REP with strong ongoing knowledge of instrumentation and plant process. My core qualifications are as follows:* JIB/ECS Registered Electrician* 17th Edition* Compex* Level 3 offshore crane operator* HLO (Helicopter Landing officer)* HDA (Helideck Assistant)* BOSIET (Basic Offshore survival)* MIST (Minimum Industry Safety Training)* ERTL (Emergency response team leader)* ERTM (Emergency Response Team Member)* Shell electrical safety rules * Lifeboat Coxwain * Scape* 2394/5 Testing and Inspection* Offshore Medical * CITB Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme * First Aider REP – Responsible electrical person, responsible for overseeing all electrical work and systems on the platform. Assessing and grading technicians that are new to the platform. Reviewing permits, isolations and inhibits prior to giving the go ahead to start work. Planning and altering of procedures like the plant black start. Project managing of installation work and day to day fault finding under pressure are also part of this role.CRO – control room operator, controlling process via the DCS system, understanding and operating emergency shutdown, fire and gas, ship collision systems. AA – Area authority, controlling multiple work parties to be able to work safely together, avoiding unsafe clashes of work, assisting with the preparation of permits. ERTL – Emergency response team leader Fire + Gas/instrument Tech – Although my background is electrical over the past five years I have been expected to expand my knowledge of fire and gas and instrumentation. I now have a good knowledge of types of detection how they work and how to trouble shoot. Using safety manager on a daily basis I can safely adjust zeros and spans and can understand the safety implications of doing this.
