As a Legal Assistant, I've been exposed to more than just clerical work. Often I find myself proofreading attorney's motions and drafting them as well. I work for a personal injury and nursing home abuse firm so part of my job is spent locating medical records locally and nationwide, and information on physicians. Working here taught me to value detail and organization, for my sake, and the client as well.

Since I began working at this firm, I have solved problems as small as fixing the office computer and have also played a major role in establishing the Hispanic/Latino client base. The work that is done at an Immigration Law Firm ranges from reuniting families through Consulate Processing to defending Legal Residents or immigrants with simple infractions or complex misdemeanor or felony criminal records in Immigration Court. In my employment, I have learned to focus on the Immigration and Nationality Act(INA) to raise questions about possible relief an immigrant may qualify for in order to reach a favorable disposition, and ultimately, allow them to remain in the United States with their family.The knowledge and skills employed in my present career are that of an investigative researcher. Using my investigative approach, I have been able to locate and use information provided by cooperating with the local government to help clients navigate through the legal system. Furthermore, I have established and maintained a professional relationship with court administrators nationwide to better communicate inquiries on pending cases.Lastly, I'd like to employ my research and investigative skills to assist law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime, drugs, human trafficking, and in the illegal arms-trade.

As a research assistant my job involved organizing confidential student information and researching materials that can enrich the student's education in the course. Creating visual graphics and using research methods to locate resources were skills that often were used in this position.

As a youth worker I was responsible for tutoring students in basic mathematics, increasing test taking skills, and assisting elementary school children with their homework at an after school program. In doing this I felt that I was challenging young minds and sharing the opportunity that was given to me when I was in elementary school.

I began working as a Recreation Aide at the nursing home and soon became a Nursing Aide because of the attention I learned to give individually to each resident I was responsible for. As a Nursing Aide I was responsible for the well being of a unit of about 25 residents. I interpreted communication between primary physicians and patients, maintained the diets of patients according to their health condition and participated in recreational activities for the elderly.
