 Wollangarra - not-for-profit outdoor education centre. I have been involved as a volunteer since 2008 in the Wollangarra community. In the past I have been in a leadership position, working with and coordinating groups of volunteers with the Centre in projects, such as repairing walking tracks and trails in High Country Victoria or planting trees in local Melbourne council parks and reserves. I have also lead hikes of young people into the high country. In April 2011 I was one of ten volunteers on a 150 km hike in the high country to raise funds for youth-at-risk, contributing over $1000 to the project.

I was employed as a casual Gardener working in teams of 2 – 4 people on various job sites. My main duties consisted of general domestic garden maintenance. Many of the properties we worked on were regular bi-weekly jobs, and unless we had instructions for specific needs from our clients, I was expected to learn and then efficiently carry out the necessary duties without prompting or heavy direction. Duties could include basics like leaf raking, lawn mowing and power-head hedge trimming, to mixing chemical sprays for weed or insect control, surface cleaning and pressure washing, and precision hand pruning or hedge trimming.Landscape garden design was another part of the business, and often our garden maintenance duties would be subbed for landscaping jobs. Landscaping duties included planting, trench digging and float surfacing, mulch distribution and irrigation installation and maintenance.

I was employed as a casual Gardener, part of a two-man team providing service to a local customer base, and tending to basic domestic garden management and customer interaction.

I was employed full time in a local weed control and landscape gardening business based around Hobart, Tasmania. Typical days could easily range from me working by myself with hand tools, or with my employer with various power tools in council owned bush land reserves, or private residential gardens. During this time I was able to build and maintain a steady work ethic, performing at a good and solid pace for an average of 8-9 hours, 4-5 days a week.

General customer service; my job was to run the shop, generally by myself, serving customers both with their selection of products and transactions of both renting and sales. This gave me good experience with customer interface and shop managing responsibilities.

General hospitality work. My responsibilities included setting up & hosting children’s parties, including catering and serving the kids. Along with these duties, I worked in the café section serving customers and waiting tables, as well as working as a kitchen hand preparing party, and café food. While at Rare Bears, one of my duty managers was Nicole Adkins, a current employee at Bunnings Warehouse, Hawthorn store. Nicole is still listed as one of my references, and can comment on my work ethic and skills.
