My main duties here involve working in a dedicated design team to create new packaging systems and modifying existing designs to improve performance and/or resolve faults. Alongside these duties I am also responsible for producing and supervising production schedules to meet client agreed deadlines, author and update all technical documents from general arrangement/fabrication drawings to operator manuals for international use. My secondary workload involves overcoming manufacturing problems in and out of house to ensure machine builds are kept on schedule, to budget and to company manufacturing standards. Additional tasks involve overseeing procurement & logistics, I've found keeping a good supplier/staff relationship is a key skill of which I have acquired during my time here.

My induction to this industry involved 6 department placements allowing myself to grasp a very good insight and knowledge to how natural gas is transported throughout the UK and through all higher and lower pressure ranges. Throughout these placements I was a key member of engineering teams, delivered projects based on initial brief scopes and produced engineering calculations for both low and high profiled projects. The last two years I attained the position of an FLM (First Line Manager) for the Bristol area. Here I demonstrated to control and monitor a patch with 8 teams, an annual budget and resolving customer complaints to perform within a highly regulated environment.

In my primary role I collaborated with a skilled technical team to aid in the production of custom industrial and private sector detailed general arrangement and fabrication drawings. AutoCAD was the primary software used to develop these drawings. In this role I also act as a high level ‘broker’ which demands excellent analytical, collaboration and inter-personal skills in order to breakdown complex problems given by a chief architect and communicate them to specialist and non-specialist individuals at multiple levels of the organisational hierarchy. All steel apparatus’s I designed required proven calculations of structural soundness by hand this included large steel structures to secondary steel work.
