As an assistant finance business partner at the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC), I am gaining valuable experience in different aspects of financial regulation and supervision. I am currently working in the Budget Strategy and Business Partnering team, where I support the planning and allocation of resources for ASIC's strategic priorities and initiatives. Previously, I worked as a graduate at ASIC, analysing the current macroeconomic environment and assessing the risks that this may present to ASIC. I used various tools and methods, such as Excel, Power BI, and Google Trends, to analyse trends, present data, and identify threats to certain financial markets. I also had the opportunity to work as an associate at the Bank for International Settlements in Switzerland, where I promoted the global Financial Stability Institute. I have a strong academic background in economics and finance, having graduated from the University of Tasmania with first class honours in economics in 2021, and a double degree in business and economics in 2020. I completed a thesis on nowcasting unemployment rates in Australia using Google Trends data, which demonstrated my ability to conduct original and rigorous research.I am passionate about applying my economics and finance skills to contribute to the public interest and enhance the financial wellbeing of Australians. I am motivated to learn from the diverse and experienced teams at ASIC, and to develop my professional competencies and career prospects. I am also interested in exploring new opportunities and challenges in the financial sector, and to expand my knowledge and network.
