About Oliver Gage

I've been fortunate to work with some excellent people while experiencing three different countries and cultures throughout my career. I would encourage young professionals to travel where possible, as it really does help to broaden the mind and see things from a different perspective. The key lesson I've learned is the importance of transparency and honesty in teams and organizations. In knowing our limitations we can better zero in on our strengths and areas of opportunity. I believe a clear, consistent and evidence-based approach to decision making will help a club operate more efficiently and ultimately ensure all departments are pulling in the same direction. Innovation and open-mindedness should be encouraged and we are beginning to see some football clubs benefit from these approaches, pulling away from the traditionalists. Specialist coaching, data analytics, and the value of the human element of the game are all areas clubs can leverage to compete where their finances may not allow them to.     I was honoured to be approached by a group of my peers to launch and run the official body representing professional football analysis and those who work within the profession.Since launch, I've built educational courses in various aspects of football strategy and analysis, which have been a huge success and are very well regarded by fellow professional analysts. The association also places huge value on helping analysts to progress their careers, offering free resources in this area including a jobs board listing vacancies at clubs. The Association is still young, and has only achieved a small part of what I know is possible in the long term.Most notably, we've gained recognition for the Individual Player Development course I built, with clubs like Juventus, Southampton, Reading, Watford, West Ham, Bayern Munich, Valencia and more choosing to enroll their Technical Staff.
