I specialise in the marketing of complex technical products and services, usually to audiences of engineers. A rich engineering background, in software, energy systems, electronics and mechanical engineering enables me to understand the marketing strategies, messages and content that work with these audiences. I create structured, cost conscious marketing plans that drive sales revenues and margin growth. I have a strong command of modern digital marketing techniques but also have solid foundations in established disciplines like PR and events. The approach is classic: Market understanding-> Strategy Development >Tactics and ExecutionMy main focus, as the fractional CMO at the Fetis group, is to accelerate the adoption of lower carbon technologies, particularly in heavy mobility industries such as off-road machines (e.g. agriculture, construction, airport, materials handling), vocational trucks (e.g. cranes, refuse, fire engines), and marine. Building a capable team and a strong market focused culture is key to this. The technologies of interest include alternative energy sources (Lithium based batteries, H2 Fuel cells, H2 ICE) plus hybridisation, low carbon liquid fuels. Machine efficiency improvements through advanced electronic controls, autonomy and next gen hydraulics offer extremely effective paths to carbon reduction. In addition to my fractional CMO responsabilities, I provide a marketing strategy consultancy to engineering companies. I'm a strong believer in the power of networks, community and life-long learning. I am generally happy to connect with indivudals who are innovating in marketing or in my engineering interest areas (energy, mobility, electronics, AI, compute).
