Worked for one client - Christchurch City Council - from just before the earthquakes (so I experienced a huge degree of change) and helped them slot into the new datacentre. Managed the change required to design, instill and improve new processes and people into a new working environment for the client. Diplomacy and tightrope walking were essential skills.

I had a fruitful time being an ambassador for IT and trying to relate the business needs back to IT in a meaningful manner. This role reported to Chief Information Officer and was part of the Senior Management Team within the IT Department. Responsible for relationships with IT and two major internal Groups and all Council Controlled Organisations.

Insite Technology assembled computers for the New Zealand market. The range covered notebooks to high-end server computer hardware. My initial responsibilities covered several operational aspects of a manufacturing business assembling approximately 5000+ units with a turnover of NZ$9+m per annum (2006 figures). I developed further and was made responsible.

TRO is a marketing communications/promotions company with a major client focus in the automotive arena. Annual group turnover: UK₤12million (1999). I was solely responsible for the technology infrastructure set up and on-going management and the project management of new systems and board-level technical liaison within the company. Resources managed.

One of the best times in my life - driving trucks full of people across Africa including: South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Kenya, Zaire, Central African Republic, Cameroon, Nigeria, Niger, Algeria, Morocco and back through Europe. Each trip lasted 6 months and I did four of them. I also managed to cover the East and went to Egypt overland through.
