I am currently studying a Masters in Accounting and Data Analytics (due to graduate in 2024). What inspires me?I can attribute my inspiration for my degree to my A Level Physics teacher. He helped develop my love of learning. This was through his consistent encouragement and dedication. After learning that he was an electrical engineering graduate I decided to study mechanical engineering. On top of this, my teacher also inspired me to pursue teaching. The ability to combine my passions and what I am good at with inspiring the next generation and imparting my knowledge saw me choose to take a PGCE after my degree.Why I chose Accounting and Data Analytics. My love of continuous learning and working quantitatively led me down this choice. With many transferable skills from my degree and PGCE I saw this as a great opportunity to broaden my skills and knowledge. What am I passionate about?A key passion of mine is sustainability and the environment. This was ‘kicked off’ during my degree through a module (sustainable development and environmental management). This has grown since then, being a key part of both my Bachelor’s and my Masters dissertations. With my Masters dissertation looking into the financial impact of carbon emissions within the automotive industry.Personal growth through reading is another passion of mine. Whether fiction or nonfiction, academic or not, I enjoy a variety of reading materials. This helps me develop my language skills, expand my knowledge and generally relax. It is something I have always enjoyed from completing and doubling summer reading challenges when I was younger to exploring genres, styles and types of publications now. I believe, spending even just a few minutes a day reading something you enjoy, can have no downside.What are my values?Perseverance resonates with me as it simply means to not give up, to try, try and try again. You will succeed if you give it your all, this may include seeking help/guidance from someone however you will eventually succeed.Integrity is important to me as being honest with yourself and others is an important part of life. Knowing your principles and values and sticking to them, even if others may disagree.Curiosity is vital for learning. If you are not curious about something you will not have a great motivation to learn and succeed with the chosen element. This fits with my love of learning (a key strength of mine) as being curious about many things has led me to learn, understand and pursue them.
