I work in partnership with schools to support the delivery of a new prevention & advocacy initiative aimed at increasing student knowledge of key issues, and their capacity to make a difference. Our primary focus areas for 2020 have been Healthy Relationships, Poverty, Inequality & Homelessness and Mental Health and Wellbeing. I support a small team of Community Educators to deliver the content to students, with the provision of follow up activities to school staff to continue these important conversations in their classrooms.

Very cool role within an amazing team and alongside incredible young people.I provide job readiness coaching and skills development support to our diverse and motivated crew of residents aged 16 - 25. Most people get their first job (or support to get it) through a friend or family member, but not everyone. I also connect with organisations, businesses and individuals who recognise the assets and talents that young people have, and can offer various opportunities for our young people to get their foot in the door and demonstrate their capabilities.It's hard to beat the feeling of matching the right young person with the right opportunity, seeing them flourish personally and professionally, and having the business super keen to take on more. This project provided support to primary and secondary schools across public, independent and Catholic sectors in WA to create safe and inclusive environments for same sex attracted, intersex and gender diverse students, staff and families.A mix of project planning, delivery and evaluation, report-writing, training and professional development for staff across schools in WA including senior leadership staff and school boards, and guidance for staff, students and families in the process of supporting students to affirm and transition gender identity at school. Some media, government relations and marketing on the side, working as part of a national team with offices in each state and territory.

Freedom Centre utilises a peer support model to provide information, resources and referrals to young people diverse in their sexuality, sex and gender, As a Peer Educator my key tasks included facilitation of evaluation processes with volunteers and recording data; planning and delivery of drop-in sessions and camps/retreats; represent the service at relevant events and create and circulate regular youth e-newsletters. I completed the two day ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training). I was involved with the Freedom Centre in a volunteer capacity since January 2009 and was awarded a WA AIDS Council Volunteer Award in 2012.

The YEP (Youth Educating Peers) Project is a capacity building project to assist the W.A youth sector to support the sexual health and wellbeing of young people. A very diverse role providing support to the Project Manager across all areas of the project including distribution of resources; supporting participatory action research; program planning; implementation and evaluation; administration of the YEP Sexual Health Blog; maintaining the Project's contacts database; coordinating the YEP Crew youth peer education program and delivering Sex & Ethics (C) training to youth workers.
