Serving as the Soil Conservationist for Amelia, Powhatan, and Goochland counties, I was privileged to work with a diverse agricultural community. Prominent industries and our customer base consisted of timber, crop, beef, dairy, and poultry producers. When the opportunity to serve as Acting District Conservationist opened, I was excited to take on the additional responsibilities and continue providing consistent, timely, and detailed service to our producers. Additional collateral duties I accumulated during my tenure included service as our Business Tools Point of Contact for the Area, and the Chair of the Civil Rights Advisory Committee.

Working over the summer and during the school year, I was able to glean experience and wisdom from a variety of NRCS employees from the Piedmont to the Mountains of Virginia. I worked in Christiansburg, Rustburg, Bedford, and Rocky Mount during my time as an intern. The experiences I gained from this intership and the connections I made encouraged me to continue pursuing a career with NRCS.
