I am a babysitter for multiple families in my neighborhood on a weekly basis. Because of remote learning, more families have been reaching out for me to help their children complete assignments. I have many tasks ranging from watching toddlers and helping second graders with schoolwork and zooms. Some of the specific tasks I was faced with include ensuring child safety, laundry and cooking, and emergency preparedness. Toddlers will run all over the house so being right behind them all the time is very important. If they get out of sight for a few minutes, emergency preparedness is very important. Being able to call poison control or the police is something that may need to be done very quickly. Then laundry and cooking is also an important task for helping the family out after a long day. Taking care of children has taught me many important skills that will definitely help me in the future from learning how to change diapers, proper diet patterns for toddlers, and how much social interaction they need.

I worked at Our Lady of Sorrows School as an After School Program Counselor. This means that I worked from 3:00-6:00 after High School. I assisted children with homework, watched them play on the jungle gym, and packed them up when their parents came to pick them up. The program ranged from preschool to eightieth grade and I had many children that I was responsible for. When helping them with homework, it ranged from Math, English, Religion, to Science, and even History. Many of them needed assistance because they were unsure about the lessons. Another task I had was watching them play outside or in the gym. It was really important to keep a close eye on them so nobody put themselves in a dangerous situation. I had to make sure that they were playing safely and were being nice to their peers. The final task I had which was the hardest one was when their parents arrived. I had to pry them away from whatever game they were playing and they always said "just 5 more minutes!" I had to find their backpack, coat, lunchbox, and books and make sure they were all together and given to their guardian.

During the Summer, I worked at a summer camp as a camp counselor. I worked with children from pre-k 3 to second grade. In this role I was able to create activities and was given the opportunity to collaborate with my peers while doing so. I worked in this role for 2 years and it taught me many skills in communication and organization.
