About Olivia Mcdowell
I learned early on in life that I had a spirit for advocacy and empowerment. Starting from a young age, public speaking and justice quickly became passions of mine. While in college, my coursework has covered a variety of frameworks such as; Environmentalism, Black Feminism, Queer Theory and art through the lens of Social Justice, which has equipped me with the knowledge needed to drive this passion. I have found solace in the intersection of art history and social justice, where I can identify with the amplification of marginalized groups through artistic depiction.I am eager to enter into roles in which I can advocate for the betterment of various minority communities, and explore their cultural gestures of resistance. My interests lie within Reproductive Rights, Social Justice and African-American art. Currently, I am looking for fellowships and opportunities providing experience in Art History and Social Justice.
