Whilst working in a small payroll team for DHL, I was managing site payroll processes and procedurefor over 1000 employees. The role was to ensure all overtime, absences and holidays arerecorded accurately alongside processing SSP, SMP, BACS payments and to calculate anyadditional payments employees may need. Other aspects of the role included system development and communications across the site. Attention to detail and data accuracy were very important to this role.

The role as a communications officer was very fast paced and I was able to take away very valuable skills from this role. Not only are you dealing with life or death, you are also having to deal with highly sensitive information which could subsequently alter the outcome of these situations. I had started off as a 999 operator where I was responsible for grading the correct response to each call and selecting the correct pathway resolution. Other aspects of this role was also to complete intelligence research for the attending officers.
