I'm a communication and public relations professional with a bachelor’s degree in Communication from The Ohio State University. I have 15 years’ experience in communications with 12 years exclusively in the health communication field and specialize in media strategy and public relations. I currently serve as the Public Relations Manager for a national maternal health organization. I develop public relations strategies and work closely with national, state and local media to coordinate interviews and media statements. I media train our leaders and subject matter experts with intentional messaging to reach our specific audiences and stakeholders. I collaborate with our government affairs and philanthropy teams to strategically write and place human interest stories to accomplish health policy goals and fundraising goals. I am a skilled AP-style writer specially trained in storytelling, press releases, speeches, opinion editorials and talking points.I have strength in pitching stories for earned media relations exposure. My recent successes, nationally, include coordinating an earned media interview for NBC’s Today Show, a human-interest feature in the Chicago Tribune, and a blog collaboration with a celebrity influencer in California. Additionally, I am a communications consultant for a national public health organization. I manage numerous social media accounts, I regularly host podcasts and write blogs and content for the organization. I keep a pulse on a range of important and emerging health topics to curate and develop valuable resources for the organization’s members.I have experience in developing press strategies about health issues to influence positive change. During the COVID pandemic I acted as the county public health crisis communication director and primary spokesperson to promote infectious disease prevention tactics to support regional public health programs.
