Director Of Youth Programs (Education Director)
CurrentLead team of 3, delivering a diverse portfolio of programs reaching 4,000 participants annually across 8 school districts. Simultaneous management and execution of four widespread, discrete programs.Report to the Executive Director and serve as a key member of the organizational management team, contributing to strategic decision-making, organizational development, and change management, including navigating a historic headquarters relocation and expansion into retail services.Recruit, train, and support a diverse team of 25 contractors and 100 volunteers annually. Design and implement professional development and ongoing community engagement opportunities for contractors, including the Apprenticeship for Writers of Color, a teacher-training program to promote diversity in our teaching artist roster.Organize and execute a 20+ small-scale and high-profile literary and community events annually: venue selection and booking, collaboration with vendors and venue staff, recruiting, coordinating, and stewarding participants and VIPs, onsite event execution, post-event evaluations and debriefs.Supervise data collection systems to track performance across 4 department branches. Establish data metrics for participant demographics and program impact, ensuring alignment with community need and organizational goals. Utilize three-pronged data approach to inform strategic decisions around program growth. Conduct and analyze targeted evaluations tailored to diverse participant communities (contractors, volunteers, students, educators). Leveraged data to expand programming to a rural community for the first time in 25-year program history. Lead communications for all programs, keeping contractors, community, and program partners apprised of events, deadlines, and changes. Started the program’s first email list on MailChimp to reach our diverse communities: educators, volunteers, contractors, program-specific annual partners, advisory council, and event attendees.
