Select Projects:--The Role of Marine-Generated Biological Macromolecules on Aerosol Climate Properties Responsible for experimental design and generation of sea spray aerosol followed by analysis via Atomic Force Microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and Scanning Transmission X-ray Microscopy.--Bacterial Culture VOC SamplingMeasurement of gas phase volatile organic compounds (VOCs) produced from bacterial cultures during communication using a novel sampling cell to house cultures while allowing for solid phase micro-extraction sampling and analysis by GC/MS triple quadrupole.

Bertram Research Group--National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program Recipient--Researched as Center for Impact of Aerosols on Climate and the Environment (CAICE)My graduate student career involved designing and performing experiments to measure the heterogeneous reaction kinetics of N2O5 on both ambient/field and laboratory-generated aerosol particles. For this work, I utilized a chemical ionization mass spectrometry coupled to custom designed flow reactors, and compared the results with box model outputs and co-located measurements to further understand the findings. Additionally I acquired skills in oxidation chemistry, LabVIEW, Matlab programming, and Igor. I frequently used aerosol sizing instruments (scanning particle mobility sizer, aerodynamic particle sizer, Ultra-High Sensitivity Aerosol Spectrometer), and gas phase monitoring instruments to measure ambient levels of ozone and nitrogen oxides. I was responsible for the critical analysis of my data and presenting the data to the scientific community at numerous conferences, to the public at outreach events and to government agencies. Further, I was responsible for planning, executing, and managing numerous research projects involving groups of graduate students and postdoctoral scholars, ensuring that as a team we met the project objectives by the established deadline.

--Overview:Responsible for analyzing water, soil, and air samples via GC/MS to determine compliance with EPA standard regulations by assigned deadlines.To maintain the GC/MS I performed daily instrumental calibrations and frequent sample dilutions to ensure analyte intensities remained below the saturation limit of the GC/MS detector.-- Skills: GC/MS, LIMS databank system

Finlayson-Pitts Research Group--Investigated the interfacial reactions that take place between ozone and alkene self-assembled monolayers on silica substrates to serve as a proxy for processes taking place at interfaces in the atmosphere.--Presented research to the community and State delegates at the AIRUCI community day.
