I am the food flow manager of a small, customized local meal kit business that services over 400 customers weekly from Bellingham to the US-Canadian border, down to Portland Oregon. In this role, I manage and keep records of inventory, communicate with over a dozen local farmers and vendors to place orders and move their products throughout the week, problem-solve and manage sourcing challenges, and plan product outlines on timelines weekly. I also organize data from orders through Google Sheets, use spreadsheets to minimize costs and reduce margins, and coordinate inventory pick ups with local drivers. I also assist with warehouse inventory organization, food preparation, packing boxes, and preparing the truck and drivers for their deliveries.

I research, write, and edit informational pieces for several public and private companies about facets of sustainability in their business, local and federal environmental legislation, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

I teach and co-teach outdoor school garden lessons to over 250 K-5 students in 30 classes in two schools in the Bellingham and Lynden school districts. I also plan, prepare, and lead cooking and kitchen skills for three different programs for 24 elementary and high school aged students. Outside of teaching, I develop garden curriculum for six grades, help maintain 15 school gardens in Bellingham, Lynden, and Kendall, manage organizational social media accounts, responsibly operate 3 company vehicles, and collaborate on various other food education-related projects with fellow AmeriCorps Service Members.

I collaborated with two other leaders in mentoring and guiding 12 elementary-aged students on three two-week traveling outdoors adventure trips. These activities are focused around living as a group, camping, hiking, biking, cooking, traveling, and fostering and building teamwork skills in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. In the summer of 2021, I co-led two self-supported bike trips on the Pacific Coast from Portland, Oregon to San Francisco, CA with 12 high-school aged students, and in 2023 I co-led two groups of students on a hiking and language trip in Spain.I have also represented Overland leaders on informational in-person and Zoom sessions with prospective leaders. In 2022, I researched, scouted, and wrote reports on several trails and camping areas in Northeastern Washington for Northwest Explorer and Northwest Expedition 2023.

I planned, created, and developed lesson plans independently and collaboratively with four teaching assistants for introductory and intermediate levels of Spanish. I guided groups of 4-7 students on Zoom through these Spanish language activities and conversations three times a week, and participated in monthly teacher training through workshops for online teaching and group learning.

I helped operate the on-campus industrial compost facility, coordinate and track waste volumes across campus, and facilitate and lead meetings across various stakeholders on campus. I also collaborated with other student employees to plan, organize, lead, and execute student outreach educational activities and events, and find ways to promote sustainability efforts and engagement on Davidson’s campus.
