Ryan Olson is a public policy professional with a background in international trade and economics, agriculture and association management. Ryan is currently an Industry Affairs Manager at the U.S. Soybean Export Council were we covers the organization's market access portfolio. At USSEC, Ryan works to create a preference for U.S. soybeans by anticipating and resolving market access challenges with partners throughout the value chain. Previously, Ryan was the Director of Operations at the North American Export Grain Association where he oversaw implementation and execution of programs, committee initiatives, and policy advocacy efforts. Prior to joining NAEGA, Ryan was a Research Associate at The Heritage Foundation’s Center for Trade and Economics. At Heritage, he researched and wrote on a range of issues, including international economics and development, economic freedom, and trade. Ryan has also worked as a staff assistant in the Washington, D.C. office of then-Congressman Cory Gardner and as a volunteer English teacher in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region of the country of GeorgiaA Virginia native, Ryan holds a master’s degree in International Commerce and Policy from George Mason University’s School of Public Policy and has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from James Madison University. In 2019, Ryan and his wife Allison took a sabbatical to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail. They now live in the Durham, North Carolina area.
