It is a position that encompassed responsibility for strategic locations, including Iraq, Libya, Syria, Jordan and Palestine. Omar’s current role builds on his success as the PwC Head of Advisory (which included management consultancy and Transactions/Corporate Finance) in the Middle East, where the division registered significant growth under his leadership.Omar’s professional life began in auditing with Arthur Andersen LLP, in 1984. He went on to complete his Certificate of Public Accountancy (CPA) in 1989. During the first nine years with Andersen, Omar was responsible for delivering full-time audits complemented by special audits and reviews, investigations and general consulting assignments. He served as a team member on numerous engagements, until he became a partner and began leading projects. At this point, he was invited to build Arthur Andersen’s Consulting Practice in the Middle East, after the split between Arthur Andersen and Andersen Consulting in 1997. During this period, Omar’s over-arching career transitioned from auditing into operational and financial consulting using years of hands on experience in operational and financial consulting on multiple projects throughout his career. He became the Head of Consulting in the Middle East for Arthur Andersen, and subsequently the Head of Advisory in the Middle East for Ernst & Young (EY), in 2002, when the entire Andersen ME Firm/team merged with EY. Omar’s experience in operational and financial advisory at this time encompassed:• Strategy development; organizational restructuring; company-wide performance analysis and improvement; process re-engineering; ERP selection and implementation, such as Oracle, BaaN, SAP and JdEdwards. • Business valuations of large groups of companies; private placements for existing companies and for new investments; feasibility studies in several industries; privatization and reform projects and IPOs.Continue on the next Sub-Section......
