CRDF's projects strengthen international safety and security culture by enhancing risk management practices, improving in-country detection and response capabilities, securing facilities, and encouraging collaborative partnerships to reduce risk.As a Project Lead in CBRNE Security my responsibilities are as follows:• Design and implement project plans using best practices for Projects that may include charters, WBS, statements of work, schedules, deliverables, monitoring and evaluation plans, and project budgets• Develop budgets and projections, manage sub-award budgets, monitor project/program finances, and monthly spending reports and financial reporting of project expenses upon closeout of the sub-award(s)• Coordinate with grantees to ensure timely and accurate reporting, as well as compliance with grant requirements• Support program/project to provide high quality deliverables to funding agency relaying timely program developments• Serve as the liaison for internal units to execute the project on scope, schedule, and budget• Provide logistical support to overseas workshops or conferences under the supervision of the funder• Develop concepts and new project ideas continually and as part of proposal development process• Support the CBRNE portfolio team to implement monitoring and evaluation systems to properly document, organize project performance and progress• Liaise with funder routinely and assists with management of funder relationship• Establish and advance relationships with key stakeholders and grantees to ensure the work of CRDF Global is building on and contributing to key project goals and objectives• Represent program or projects at external events domestically and abroad

The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) is the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program. Through short-term visits to the United States, current and emerging foreign leaders in a variety of fields experience the United States firsthand and cultivate lasting relationships with their American counterparts. Professional meetings reflect the participants’ professional interests and support the foreign policy goals of the United States. As a program assistant at CRDF Global working primarily on implementing the IVLP, my responsibilities were as follows:• Conducting research in support of the design and development of project proposals and itineraries that meet the stated project objectives.• Assisting in the design and development of project proposals and itineraries.• Assisting in arranging meetings in the Washington, D.C. area for each project.• Assisting in electronic and verbal communication with U.S. Department of State Program Officers, CBMs, and interpreters/liaisons on all significant developments from project planning to implementation to closeout.• Preparing biographical information of visitors.• Preparing program books to be distributed to visitors upon arrival.• Arranging logistics for each project.• Contributing to and generate content for social media related to each project.• Supporting reporting functions and monitoring and evaluation of each project.• Participating in the interviewing and on-boarding of interns.Non IVLP related responsibilities that I had:• Assisting other practice areas on specific projects through research, analysis, and implementation. • Assisting other practice areas by writing proposals for potential projects.

The Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program is a US Embassy funded program which brings 150 Iraqi high schoolers to the United States for one month. As a a facilitator I worked with 55 of those participants during their time in the US. Some of my duties as a program facilitator included: • Facilitating dialogue group sessions for 13 participants• Facilitating “Host City Workshops” for over 28 participants• Facilitating Communication Theatre Workshops for 55 participants • Supervising and facilitating programs for 14 participants for two weeks in Kansas City• Facilitating project planning and project management workshops for 55 students

United States

The Governors Institute of Vermont runs a summer camp for youth from Vermont, several other U.S. states, as well as youth from around the world. This camp gives youth the opportunity to discuss critical issues impacting Vermont towns, pressing U.S. national political and social issues, exciting and complex global issues. The camp also gives participants leadership, activism, communication and organizing skills to get involved and create real change on a variety of issues. • Assisted in the development and facilitation of educational components during the institute, including leadership skill sessions, topical workshops, simulations, forum theaters, guest speakers and discussion groups for 92 participants• Facilitated topical workshops for 25 students on youth activism during the Egyptian Revolution

As an intern at World Learning, I worked on two programs titled the Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program (IYLEP) and the Digital Young Leaders Exchange Program (DYLEP). Some of my duties as a program intern included:• Arranging program logistics both in the US and abroad (air and ground travel/hotels/meeting space) for 150 participants• Facilitating virtual programming (dialogue facilitation, monitoring of assignments, etc.) for 90 participants• Conducting research to identify appropriate program components and assist in the preparation of programs• Developing prospective program calendars and itineraries• Processing 500 financial documents to support both international and domestic travel for 150 students from Iraq• Maintaining comprehensive program files• Accompanying and interacting with participants during DC program segments• Contributing to program blogs, including reviewing and editing student submissions• Assisting with the preparation of program materials for participants, along with entering and editing data for database

Cincinnati, Ohio. Bordeaux, France

I conducted research on immigration to France and the United Kingdom. Before traveling to France, I conducted research using open source data about immigration to France and the U.K. and its effects on those nations. I also conducted Skype interviews with students at the Bordeaux Montaigne University as well as students at the École nationale supérieure d’électronique, informatique, télécommunications, mathématique et mécanique de Bordeaux (EINSERB). While in France, I conducted more interviews with immigrant students as well as several professors. I also interviewed individuals who worked at the mobility center at the University of Bordeaux, who are in charge of getting foreign student researchers Visas from the French government. I presented my research at the 2015 University of Cincinnati Undergraduate Research Conference.
