Responsible for managing all aspects of the charity's Africa operations, from London, this has entailed: • Recruiting the best possible team of volunteers, from all over the world • Developing partnerships with companies (G4S, Inmarsat, DHL, Norton Rose Fulbright, FLYA) that can contribute to our objectives • Liaising with local contacts to plan project work in each community • Planning every aspect of the expedition, from booking 160 nights of accommodation to negotiating discounts for social activitiesAs project manager on the ground during our Rugby in Africa 2015 expedition, I was responsible for: • Building the best possible team culture and getting the most out of our 22 volunteers • Working with our corporate partners to maximise their contributions and deliver on our commitments • Liaising with a wide range of local stakeholders (local schools, international schools, NGOs, clubs etc.) to make every community program as successful as possible • Managing all logistical aspects of the expeditionOur 2015 project was a huge success: • 3,853 children playing sport with us • 183 local people trained to be coaches, ensuring sustainability • 140 balls, 900 bibs, 1500 cones and much more donated to communities for ongoing use

During my internship I was fortunate to get to work with a number of different teams within the business.My biggest responsibility was on the Commodities Research team, where I contributed to analysis of Precious Metals markets and lead the Agriculture & Softs sub team. During a gap year between school and university, I worked at the level of a first year graduate trainee. After completing a two week bookkeeping course with the other graduates, I worked on client audits and learned about the process of ensuring that accounts give a true and fair view of companies' finances.I worked on a range of audits, from large companies such as Grant Thornton to small firms and local government departments. I was able to gain a good understanding of the fundamentals of financial accounting and learn about the workings of finance departments.
