About Onome Ekeh

A writer and designer of speculative spaces. Editorial work and consulting covers art, film, tech and science — clients include ETH Zurich, Cybathlon (a platform for assistive technologies), W.I.R.E (Web for Interdisciplinary Research & Expertise), iart - a studio for media architectures, and horgenglarus. Lecturer for the Masters program at the Basel Academy of Art & Design FHNW, and currently completing the novel 'Rainverse' as well as a graphic novel series, Hotel Legba, based on the deities of the Yoruba pantheon.Born and raised on both sides of the Atlantic, OE started out as a painter, gravitated towards design, and then fell in love with cinema. Somewhere in the collision she went digital… She has produced works spanning film, video, theater, literature, and radio, and is the recipient of several fellowships including the Jerome Foundation, Greenwall Foundation, Turbulence Media Award, and a Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen Fellowship. She has also worked as a dramaturg on projects such as Grisha Coleman’s Echo::System; Venus by David Thomson; Bronx Gothic by Okwui Okpokwasili; Annie Dorsen’s The Great Outdoors— as well as collaborations with artists such as Carl Hancock Rux, Knut Asdam, Aleksandra Mir, Johan Grimonprez, Theresa Ortolani, Clarinda Mac Low, and legendary New York downtown theater company, Mabou Mines.In 2007, to satisfy her motion graphics itch, she founded futurezoo, a boutique digital agency for concept, video, and motion graphics. the memorexe was created as a repository for her fiction / sound works / essays/ and other speculations.As a film editor / 2D animator, she has engaged an array of clientele which include NGOs, academic institutions, theater performance, festivals, luxury brands, and pop bands. She is co-founder and creative director of Futurezoo, a boutique digital agency.
