For my final term at Daikin, I worked as a project engineer. I was able to develop new capital projects across the plant. These included a project to remodel three office spaces and a project to replace an existing scrubber in the gas plant. Through these projects, I developed communication skills as I had to talk with many contractors to allow for bidding on these projects. I also was tasked with developing plans to close out old management of change projects plantwide.

I had the amazing opportunity to work as an undergraduate research assistant at POLYMAT in San Sebastian, Spain. The IMPRESS program, through the University of Alabama, allowed me to participate in research for the use of polymers for tissue engineering and wound healing applications. I also had the opportunity to attend seminars to learn about the current research being done by graduate students, PhD students, and Post Docs.

For my second term at Daikin, I worked in both the gas plant and utilities areas. This allowed me to work in a continuous process and allowed me to see the back end of the plant. I worked on a capital project to help during the plant-wide shutdown. I completed the design and bidding process to double block and bleed all of the piping leading to the neutralization basin. I had the privilege to start my process engineering co-op role in the PTFE processing area. In this area, I was tasked with analyzing and inspecting quality inspections daily to identify potential areas for improvement. I managed the front end of capital projects in which I held capital meetings to get the projects approved and did capital paperwork. I was also able to implement engineering solutions to reduce production time and costs in the reactors in the system.
