Architectural Intern
Worked with marketing team to provide visuals and graphics for a comprehensive design competition package. In partnership with Wexford Science and Technology BioMed Realty, ZGF provided a preliminary design package that laid out the design vision for a 300,000 square foot academic community for Carnegie Mellon University. -Created 3D SketchUp model of entire development. The model was built with existing context, street-scape, and topography in mind. -Established key moments in the project and developed realistic renderings of architecture with the use of Adobe Photoshop. Each rendering depicted potential material and landscaping schemes of interior and exterior spaces. -Composed diagrams and sectional drawings to explain the design evolution and the important selling points of ZGF's proposal. Drawings worked in conjunction with overall project summary to tell a complete story of how the project would improve the commerce and academic life of the Pittsburgh community. -Competition proposal was selected by Carnegie Mellon as one of the finalists. The design proposed a hotel, commercial office, retail and start-up space for small businesses. -Worked with sustainability experts within the office to establish a 10 point sustainability plan for the development. The team laid out strategies that would go beyond the 2030 Energy Efficiency standards and become a showcase for urban ecology. -Other office responsibilities included responding to RFI's by making updates to construction documents in Revit and contacting contractors by phone and email.
Architectural Intern
Performed design development and construction documentation tasks for 92,000 square foot community center for an underserved Anacostia neighborhood of Washington DC. The Town Hall Education Arts Recreation Campus (THEARC) provides a community space for underserved children and adults to participate in art, academic, and medical programs. -Responsible for developing a comprehensive 3D model of existing site conditions and a planned 92,000 expansion phase. With the use of Sketch-Up and AutoCAD, a model was completed with materials, landscaping, and proposed furniture arrangements of three storey facility. -Generated over two dozen visualizations that were presented to prospective cliencts of the facility. The tenants of the project included:•Apple Tree Institute for Education Innovation•The Bishop Walker School for Boys•Children's National Health System•The Phillips Collection-Visited the existing facilities for Bishop Walker School for Boys. Spent a day with young boys showing them the future design of their new school. Gave students a small lesson on the value of reading and what architecture professionals do. -Met with current managers of THEARC campus and discussed the goals and vision for the new center.
