I am responsible for organizing entities such as urban farms, community and school garden projects as venues for providing basic nutrition information, cooking classes and demos. Also responsible for directing these entities to sources for technical assistance for their operations.I am charged with collaborating the other intervention areas within CPHP to develop food based programs supporting lifestyle changes necessary for positive health outcomes and ending health disparities in our target communities on the south and west sides of Chicago. I assist with linking eligible residents apply for and receive SNAP benefits.

Co-founder of the organization that is devoted to innovative community and economic development strategies. The organization is currently collaborating with organizations and individuals on a steering committee to develop an independent natural foods grocery store in the Greater Englewood/Washington Park community areas on the south side of Chicago. The grocery store will be organized as a cooperative or B corporation under Illinois corporate regulations based upon research and deliberation of the steering committee.Under the auspices of the CUT and in a collaborative effort the See Potential Chicago project was developed in 2013 and the next generation of the program is continuing in 2014. See Potential Chicago is a project that integrates photography, videography, community engagement and community development to generate support for selected community development projects. As executive director of the organization I have developed urban planning concept papers including the 59th Street Green Business District proposal that became the inspiration for the Green Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative serving several south side communities.

I was the regional lead field organizer for the south side of Chicago for Energy Impact Illinois. The program is an energy assessment and energy upgrade program for owners of buildings including single family homes and 2-4 unit buildings. The program is funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act stimulus program. Homeowners are offered the opportunity for having energy audits done for $99.00 (ask me how to have it done for free), rebates for proposed air sealing and insulation of 70% up to a maximum amount of $1,750.00 and loans capped a 8% with the stimulus package through our program paying the interest payments for the first 12 months of the loan term. Other rebates are available for new furnaces and boilers which may also financed through the loan program along with Energy Star appliances.My team and I conducted one on one meetings with interested community organizations, block clubs, faith based institutions and homeowners. Further we were responsible for all follow up activities to ensure that homeowners were satisfied with the energy retrofits completed by the contractors.This was a temporary program as the part of the economic stimulus package; funding expired in August 2013.

I held two positions within the organization including case manager for clients involved in the organization's workforce development program. In that role I was responsible for connecting clients with any appropriate services that were required. My case management practice was tailored to the individual needs of each client. Another aspect of the position was to monitor workplace behavior and applying corrective action in a manner that facilitated learning and behavioral change consistent with the skills that would be required enhance success in either part or full time positions. I also administered and graded adult basic skills tests and recommended pathways for enhancing skills and enrolling in the appropriate educational programs.I served as the the Director for New Program Development developing ideas for the creation of farm and food based social enterprises.

Responsibilities included accounts payable and receivable duties, utilizing Fund-EZ accounting software. Maintained financial records for monthly accountant's reconciliation. Conducted all grants and research contract management services. Performed all human resource duties, including online payroll management, tracking all paid time off and the hiring and supervision of all support staff. Created and edited The Employee Handbook. Before promotion to the Business Manager position performed duties as case manager and compliance coordinator for patients in research protocols. Assisted clients with securing any services that they needed such as housing, employment and treatment services.

Wrote proposals and performed grant management tasks. Designed environmental education modules and assisted with the development of an ecologically sustainable regional redevelopment strategy. Created articles for the organization's newsletter

Coordinated health clinic services for homeless clients. Tasks included clinic intake; recruitment and scheduling of volunteer physicians and nurses; counseling and referral services for clients with physical and psychological problems requiring specialized treatment; insured compliance with tuberculosis testing program; coordinated various regulatory activities with local, county and state public health agencies. Purchased and maintained all medical supplies and equipment.

Designed and implemented the counseling, academic advising and tutoring program for all student-athletes. Wrote and edited the Department's Student-Athlete Handbook. Scheduled and conducted all eligibility meetings; monitored and conducted all NCAA Compliance Activities in conjunction with the Director of Athletics and the Faculty Athletic Representative. Scheduled all team practices and participated in Conference meeting and events at the pleasure of the Director of Athletics. Served as liaison between the Department of Athletics and various University departments such as Admissions and Financial Aid to insure compliance and eligibility standards.Started working as a part-time locker room and equipment manager as a student; promoted to Director of Recreation and Intramural Sports upon graduation with responsibility for budget preparation and oversight; scheduling events and all related activities; hiring and supervising staff, purchasing, equipment maintenance and facilities management.
