After finishing school in 2020, during the height of COVID, I made the decision to defer attending university and instead took up a temporary role in Asset Management with Complex Asset Management Solutions. Having excelled in and enjoyed studying business studies throughout school, I was keen to gain practical experience in the business world before considering university again. What began as a short-term opportunity quickly evolved into a full-time position, where I was offered a permanent role. I decided to forgo traditional university education and committed myself to the professional world of Asset Management.Now, with four years of experience, I have developed a deep understanding of how a strategic, joined-up approach to managing an organisation’s assets can drive significant value. My role has allowed me to actively contribute to the development of asset management strategies and decision-making frameworks, with a focus on long-term sustainability and efficiency.I was honoured to win the 2024 Institute of Asset Management (IAM) NxtGen UK Award, which recognises emerging talent in the asset management field, and have been shortlisted for the global NxtGen award which will be held in June 2025. Additionally, I presented at the IAM UK Chapter Conference, where I shared insights on my experience redefining asset management in social housing.In parallel with my full-time role, I am pursuing a BSc (Hons) in Project Management through a degree apprenticeship with the University of Portsmouth, which I started in January 2022. I am now entering the final year of my degree, where I will graduate in July 2025. My university work combined with my job performance led me to be nominated for and subsequently named as the winner in the 'degree apprentice of the year' category at the News and Observer apprenticeship awards 2024.Throughout my journey, I have successfully earned professional qualifications including the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) and the IAM Certificate, where I obtained a 90% score in the exam.I am passionate about making a tangible impact in the organisations I work with, by blending academic knowledge with hands-on experience to drive meaningful change. As I continue my professional journey, I look forward to leveraging my skills to create innovative solutions that benefit the individuals and organisations I work alongside.
