The overall goal of this position is to deliver field outreach and conservation duties from onset of planning, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of natural resources and livelihoods projects. Key responsibilities and duties include:• Supporting strategic plan development, technical oversight as well as performing direct and delegated administrative functions including drafting of contracts, agreements and MoUs; • Ensure implementation of integrated forestry, wildlife and natural resources conservation and socio-economic development projects in a coordinated manner through a community conservation approaches;• Reviewing programmes/ projects, portfolios on a routine basis and aligning them with country and Africa Programme Strategies; • Participating in and driving programmes/ project planning processes, inclusive of concept development, proposal writing, budgeting and analysis; development of annual work plan and / annual operating plans (AOPs) across all organizational portfolios;• Coordinating programme/ project implementation with grant holders and other stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of CBNRMs including CFM and other Participatory Forestry approaches;• Overseeing monitoring and evaluation of implemented programmes/ projects;• Driving programme/ projects reporting to both internal and external parties at regular intervals;• Representing the organization in the delivery of various forums and workshops;• Working with staff to identify and carry out necessary steps to develop and maintain preferred collaboration with local NGOs in accordance with contracts, budgets, MoUs, and project requirements;• Participating in preparation of amendments and making change management requests whenever necessary to achieve project objectives; and• Carrying out any other work as required by the organization.

Programme Manager - Natural Resources And Livelihood At The Jane Goodall InstituteThe Jane Goodall Institute Uganda (Jgi-U) Jan 2016 - Jan 2021Kamala - UgandaAs manager in this unit, I ensure implementation of integrated conservation and socio-economic development projects through a community conservation approach. I undertake conceptualization, implementation, monitoring and sustainability of projects in the area of natural resources use and its sustainable management as well as facilitating efforts aimed at supporting forest adjacent communities to have alternative livelihoods as a safeguard to the forests and natural resource assets. I run a cadre of staff whom I motivate and supervise to ensure attainment of project and organizational goals and objectives. Through partnership with sister agencies, Local Governments, private sector, CBOs and stakeholders, I coordinate project and organizational activities to ensure synergies and efficiency in delivery of targeted outputs. I represent the organization in many fora to ensure a continuous engagement with other partners and stakeholders. I do regular reporting both financial and technical, including progressive and periodic reports according to stipulated requirements. -

My roles and responsibilities include projects and programmes conceptualization, development and implementation, programme management, coordination both internally and with various stakeholders and partners; monitoring as well as reporting. Osman coordinates in-field implementation of JGI's community conservation of projects tailored around chimpanzee and habitat conservation as well as community livelihoods as a mechanism for integrating socioeconomic development in conservation. He also coordinates and facilitates implementation of forest governance with NFA and communities through participatory forestry including Collaborative Forest Management (CFM) activities. -

Otzi forest landscape, I implement a community conservation initiative that integrates economic livelihoods into wildlife conservation to enhance integrity of the forest. Strategies for this have involved Collaborative Forest Management (CFM) and alternative economic livelihoods activities. Work with the Uganda Protected Area Authorities (UWA & NFA)to enhance their capacities for increased protection of the forest by recruiting, training and deploying additional forest rangers to conduct ranger based monitoring and law enforcement; conduct joint coordination between NFA and UWA; conduct joint patrols with UWA and NFA, participate in all coordination as well as cross border meetings and activities between Uganda and Sudan where Nimule National Park is located. -
Research Assistant (Processing And Marketing)International Institute Of Tropical Agriculture (Iita) Jul 2004 - Sep 2005Implemented USAID-funded ACDI Cassava Project named 'Expansion of the Dissemination of Mosaic Resistant Cassava Varieties' in seven districts of Uganda. This was an agricultural development project enhancing utilization of cassava for food and income security. While managing the processing and marketing modules, I was a primary staff in mobilizing farmers; conducting baseline surveys to inform variety distribution according to suitability of the agro-ecological zones. I participated in on-farm trials and setting up multiplication centres; conducted production/processing and marketing trainings as well as trainings in group dynamics, basic management and bookkeeping; conducted market research and linkages; linkages with fabricators to make required processors for value addition; linkages with other module of the project including disease surveillance;linkages with important important partners including local governments, producer groups and scientists; searching and establishing partnerships including sub-grantees; compiling progress, quarterly, annual and other technical reports.
