CurrentErgonomics and Pain Conditions:Assessment and Treatment of pain conditions related to daily activities - most commonly in the workplace, but including home visits or recreational activities. Common areas of pain associated with daily activities are: Neck, Upper Back, Lower Back, Shoulder, Wrist, Pelvis, Finger/Thumb joints, Feet and Ankles.I work independently or in collaboration with a client's Doctor or other healthcare professionals to diagnose and treat the functional causes of acute or chronic pain conditions. Addressing these causes prevents further injury and allow joints and muscles to heal from their injuries. For most clients, the assessment leads to relatively simply interventions that can reduce or completely eliminate long-term pain conditions.Sensory Processing / Sensitivity (sometimes called "Sensory Integration")In addition to this main practice area, I also provide Pediatric and Adult assessments and recommendations for children and adults with Sensory Processing issues. Individuals with Sensory Processing issues have difficulty functioning in environments that provide constant or fluctuating sensory input including:1. Sound: excessive volume or subtle but constant/periodic noise (such as from appliances or chattering sounds in classrooms or open-concept office design).2. Vision: flickering lights, display screens in the environment, flickering or bright lights3. Tactile: irritation from clothing or textures4. Smell: perfumes or fragrances in the environmentThese inputs can cause various difficulties for individuals, including mental fatigue, irritability, difficulty focusing, decreased mental speed, decreased work/school performance, difficulty shifting from one activity to the next. A clear assessment of the specific Sensory Processing issues can prompt interventions to alleviate the most problematic inputs and provide relief. This can allow improved daily learning, mental performance and daily function.
