I took responsibility for the delivery of campus based Open Day events, responsible for up to 60 student ambassadors, and 30 full time staff. I also led on marketing materials for the events team, bringing together all branded content and marketing elements to provide clear collateral for distribution before and during the event. Post event, I assisted with analyzing and measuring the success of events, to ensure that they persuade audiences to change decision behaviour to the commercial advantage of the university. We used a range of factors to measure against, before presenting to senior staff and the directorate to review the overall success. Working on across 3 campuses, I continuously liaised with representatives from faculties and other directorates to facilitate integrated activities into the events programme across all sites. On the marketing side of the role, I supported the generation of planned/reactive marketing campaigns in order to raise brand awareness/generate leads. This ranged from social media marketing and content marketing, to OOH marketing and print campaigns. I worked closely with the Marketing Manager to manage the marketing campaign process from generation of brief, briefing the agency, delivery of concepts, traffic of ads to market, in campaign optimisation, through to post campaign review and recommendations for the future. I also managed the marketing partnership between the university and Charlton Football Club. I regularly liaised with representatives from the club to update the range of advertisements and marketing that we had with the club (programme ads, screen ads, pitch side boards). I took an active role in working with the social media officer, creating paid social posts through Facebook’s Business Manager for Facebook and Instagram. Show less

I took external enquiries by phone and email, and dealt with them in a timely manner. Part of my placement objective was to ensure that the events calendar was kept full, and often sent out room hire/delegate package deals to our marketing list to increase bookings. Other admin responsibilities included hiring furniture from external suppliers for large events, managing catering requests for events, and ensuring that event form packs were distributed to all concerned parties prior to the event (Tech/Catering/FOH/Operations)After 3 months in the role, I progressed from a primarily administrative role, and began developing my events planning skills. I assisted the Event Coordinator with planning and delivering a range of events from theatre press nights, to small conferences. I regularly set up and set down the rooms, taking charge of the event from inception to reflection. Many of these larger events involved coordinating a variety of teams, particularly press nights which required briefing and managing the hospitality team, tech team and front of house teams to ensure a smooth running event.I attended weekly Hospitality and Events departmental meetings to discuss the upcoming events, and reflect on past events. These gave me a real insight into the logistics of a large events venue, and helped to develop my interpersonal skills.Following the completion of my placement, I was asked to return to assist due to a staff absence. I took on the role of Events Coordinator, a step up from my placement role, and continued to build on skills learnt in my placement at Curve. Show less
