As a student at the University of Kansas, I am learning and engaging with my peers everyday. KU offers substantial opportunities to engage with the student body, faculty, and alumni, providing support and wisdom to develop intellectually and socially. Additionally, I am an active member of Sigma Nu fraternity ; a collective mind of future leaders who bring out the best in each other and improve teamwork skills.At Kansas, the Sport Management Club places an emphasis on the importance of students connecting within the different Jayhawk communities. I look forward to bringing the experiences I have had with community engagement to my future communities. My journey started when I began refereeing youth flag football games in ninth grade. Along with working my first job in sports, my family's mission was to improve our community through Lionsheart community service. There, I learned more than I ever could have thought. Through Lionsheart, I got to combine my passions of sports and community service through challenger baseball. This league offered the chance for special needs children to learn the sport of baseball and continue to grow their skills. As a proud member of Lionsheart, I was honored to be elected to an executive position of my branch each year I was apart of it. This included being our inaugural President, Vice President, Secretary, and a 2nd term as President. These positions taught me valuable organization and leadership skills which I confidently use today. In 2018, I was honored with the Torchbearer's Award, the highest earned award attainable through Lionsheart. I am grateful and proud of my branch's impact on our local communities throughout our time together. In my junior year of high school, I volunteered to film and edit some highlight tapes for my friend on the football team. After playing around and putting together a video, I was astounded by how much I enjoyed being on the field and being apart of a team again. From there on, I filmed, edited, and published a weekly highlight compilation for each football game, home and away, for the junior and senior year seasons. I got to interact with the coaches and players, many of whom are still my closest friends to this day. Combining my creative knowledge with the ability to work in sports is something that drives my passion to someday be apart of a cultured organization.Overall, the skills I've learned from my school involvement, community service, and athletic involvement have prepared me and will continue to guide me for a career in the sports industry.
