As an Internal Audit Intern at the Idaho National Laboratory, responsibilities included planning, performing, and following up on audits of various financial processes, performing management requests for investigation of specific processes, identifying weaknesses in processes, and creating tools using VBA to improve those weaknesses. Examples include an audit performed of relocated employees to ensure conformity with company policy and federal laws. As part of the audit a weakness was identified in the way in which relocation expenses are reported, recorded, and reimbursed. I created a tool in excel VBA to perform certain calculations automatically and provide necessary supporting documentation.

As an intern in the Tax Technology and Data Analytic Services (TTDAS) group at EY, my duties included tool development spreadsheet analysis, and process streamlining. Examples include performing quick scans of client assets for immediately available deductions, building tools using VBA in Microsoft Access which are used to move, extract, and collect client data into easy to use format, and developing customized macros to streamline specific processes.

As an intern with CBIZ MHM, LLC in the Litigation department, I participated in performing forensic analyses for individuals and business entities. I helped prepare statements, schedules, and exhibits to be presented mainly in civil court cases as evidence for a trials. It was my duty to create binders, prepare preliminary analyses, reference and check the calculations from analyses created by other associates, and pull supporting documents for various other analyses.

As a Lab Assistant it is my duty to assist students with questions on homework problems and accounting principles that they don't understand. It is my job to explain it in a way that they can understand. As a Lab Assistant, the most common classes that I help with are Accounting 180 (Survey of Accounting), 201 (Basic Financial Accounting), 202 (Managerial Accounting, and 301 (Intermediate Financial Accounting).
