Members and supporters hold that all significant beliefs and actions should be based on reason and evidence, that the natural world is the only world there is, and that answers to the key questions of human existence are to be found only in that natural world. We seek to stimulate freedom of thought, support a secular and ethical system of education, promote the fullest possible use of science for human welfare, and encourage interest in science, criticism and philosophy as connected factors in a progressive human culture. The RSA has published a high quality quarterly journal, the "Australian Rationalist", since the 1920s. We also publish a daily newsletter, "RSA Daily", with articles of interest to rationalists and secular humanists from Australia and abroad.

During my tenure with the GTC, I led various technology and business initiatives in the developing world targeted at bringing the benefits of technology to improve livelihoods and the quality of life of those living in poverty. I am the co-founder and founding board member of the MTN-Village Phone, the first public-private partnership to extend telecommunications access to the rural poor in Uganda with a profitable business and operational model. I also co-founded Village Phone Rwanda SARL which brings the benefits of telecommunications access to rural communities in Rwanda. I developed and launched a GTC program that works to develop, test, strengthen and scale mobile applications that bring wide ranging benefits to poor people around the world.I also crafted Grameen Foundation strategy, developed partnerships and launched a social business in the domain of sustainable energy solutions for rural communities in the developing world.
