Having established herself as a solo and chamber musician of distinction, Özlem Çelik is a versatile principal clarinettist who currently plays for a number of orchestras and groups across the UK, Europe and Turkey.Özlem is currently based in London, having completed in June 2016 her MA in Performance at the Royal Academy of Music. For these studies she was awarded a full scholarship by the Borusan Philharmonic Orchestra, and for 2015-16 she was also awarded a scholarship by the Royal Academy of Music. Talent Unlimited selected her as one of their young artists and supported her throughout her studies. Ozlem played as a soloist in the Youth-Genç Symphony Orchestra, a German- Turkish collaboration which features young musicians from both countries, and performs in both. In 2005 she was appointed to a chair at the Izmir State Opera and Ballet Orchestra. She held this position until 2009, when she was appointed Principal Clarinet in the orchestra of Samsun State Opera and Ballet.Her performance engagements in UK have included solo and chamber concerts in the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe’s Summer Festival, the Talent Unlimited Music Future Festival, Wimbledon Festival and Aberystwyth Musıc Festival. She has also appeared as soloist at the Royal Overseas League, and St James’s Piccadilly. She has performed as an orchestral player at the Royal Festival Hall and as principal clarinettist for The World of Women Orchestra,Hornton Chamber Orchestra, and Bury Court Opera’s world premiere of Noah Mosley’s Mad King Suibhne. She is a founder member of three chamber groups, Trio Sonorite, S’ensemble and Duo Lumina, which have been performing regularly since 2015.
