They don’t do large projects very often, so they lack a resource with expertise to oversee the entire project for them.𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: “EPC Project Manager”Partners with the “Project Owner” as their representative in managing the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of a capital project through a structured process:✅𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 (1):In this phase an Idea for a project will be tested at high level to decide if it’s worth pursuing.✔️EPC Project Manager leads: 1-Options analysis on conceptual solutions.2-Defining the project scope, constraints, and deliverables for the selected option.3-Developing a rough schedule/cost estimate.4-Confirm that the project aligns with business needs/goals to move forward.✅𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 (2):This phase focuses on the cost and risks of the selected option, so the “Project Owner” approves the budget with higher confidence.✔️EPC Project Manager leads:1-Engineering design to refine the project plans (incl. project scope, time/cost estimates) as well as defining the deliverables, milestones, and tasks.2-Managing risks identified as planning deeper.3-Planning the procurement of equipment, material, and professional services.4-Prepare the Capital Expenditure Proposal (CEP) for approval (incl. detailed project plans)✅𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 (3):This stage involves managing, monitoring, and controlling detail engineering, procurement, logistics, site construction, and commissioning.✔️EPC Project Manager leads:1-Managing the full procurement cycle for the equipment/material and installation.2-Keeping project activities on budget & schedule and within scope.3-Managing identified and new risks.4-Monitoring construction site to identify issues and solve problems.5-Quality control and inspections6-Managing Change Requests and Requests for Information (RFI)✅𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 (4):Hand over the completed project to the “Project Owner” and confirm that the final outcomes are acceptable.✔️EPC Project Manager leads:1-Completing the as-built drawings and Operation manuals.2-Completing punch list items.3-Financial, Legal closure.4-Publishing Lessons Learned.5-Formal project acceptance from “Project Owner”.👉 𝗠𝘆 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: For 21 years, I managed EPC projects with various scopes and complexity (from $100K to $500M) for many Clients (incl.
