Working as Production Engineer on Maria Field and Maria Phase 2 - Revitalisation Project

Invented and developed a solution to repair control line. This is now commercial available.WellMend NanoCoil solution is an innovative service that offers inspection, repair and rectification of safety valve control line problems rather than replacing the entire production tubing.

Working with several clients on improvement projects to address service company’s deliverables to different operators. Supported a client with Petronas on a national well monitoring system to help supporting all their fields in Malaysia. Involved in several project where one developed an intervention tool for repairing control lines for DHSV and ASV. This is now in TRL4 stage.

Stavanger Area, Norway

Worked with ConocoPhillips as a consultant on the Ekofisk license. I work in the Reservoir Optimization Group to support the production. This involves initiating well interventions and topside modifications to improve or maintain production targets. Would also take part in the implementation of the new Production Delivery System with in ConocoPhillips Norway.

Bergen Area, Norway

Worked as a consultant with Statoil on the Gullfaks license. I work in the DPO (Detailed Production Optimisation) and POG (Production Optimisation Group) to support the production. This involves initiating well interventions and topside modifications to improve or maintain production

Worked as consultant for Talisman on a technical review of all their assets to identify production enhancement that would help them increase their performance. This cumulated in a Technology day for Talisman where 70 technology suppliers were invited to propose new and existing technologies that can be applied to create value. More than 200 proposals from the 70 companies were presented to Talisman to address issues identified by the operational people.

Pål is an executive advisor and pioneer in the field of upstream integrated operations. Since 1999, he has been developing solutions to advance the automation of oil field processes and methodologies for improved decision-making. Among his accomplishments, he has been an ongoing central contributor to the most highly developed integrated operation in the world: ConocoPhillips Greater Ekofisk area. Pål’s deep industry knowledge stems from a multitude of assignments in his earlier career across petroleum, reservoir and project engineering. As a founder and managing director for two technology companies, he combined this expertise with business acumen and knowledge of information technology to create innovative solutions for integrated operations. His operational contributions in the field include: • Development of an online production optimization system for remote support and control, which generates a detailed production map from reservoir to export• Establishment and continuous improvement of ConocoPhillips’s first Onshore Operation Centre, including documentation of all work processes• Development of a common operator portal for data sharing• Leading the visioning, strategy, and design of Integrated Production Management for a major oil company operating on the Norwegian Shelf, including the configuration of work methods in a Production Operations Center around decision-making, communications and key value chain activities• Design of work processes in an Onshore Center to support construction and scheduling on modification projectsIn addition to serving other clients, Pål were leading a project to align the Greater Ekofisk Area management group around IO philosophy. The goal was to drive agreement on an IO Functional Design Specification document for new projects and existing facilities. This would allow the organization to coordinate all activity between different centers and projects.

In 2001 I started Gram Sealing Technology As with a patented seal system for high pressure quick connectors. The connector was taken into field test in 2002 and 2003 at Ekofisk and Statfjord B platform. The product has than gone through a qualification process with Statoil and ConocoPhillips for further use in their operations. The company was sold to Sandvik AB in 2004.
